Hey, y’all! Penny, Kelsey, & Lacey here! Welcome to The Purple Door - we’re so thrilled you stopped by! 

Our mom Penny has always had an eye for business, and she’s done everything from owning & running a hardware store with our dad for 16 years, to selling purses and jewelry in the back of her SUV. Hence her nickname - The Purse Lady! 

In 2003 she began with a pop-up shop at local festivals, taking us along to help - although we’re not sure we were that much help, to be honest! And so The Purple Door was born! 

After a few years of business on the road, Penny opened a small gift boutique in our sweet little town of Homer, GA. With her love for fashion (and spotting a gap in the local market) she started bringing in clothes to the small gift boutique.

The business steadily grew, and by 2009 it was time to expand and move to a bigger location. We set up in Commerce, GA (only about 10 miles from our 1st location), and we’re still in the same shopping center today!

Today we are all three co-owners and very thankful to have this business together! 

Nothing throughout this journey came easy. The days are long, and the weeks are hard. And well, let’s face it – working with family can have its times LOL – but we wouldn’t have it any other way, and at the end of the day, we truly do enjoy this crazy retail life. We thank God for our ability to do this as a family. 

We are proud to be family-owned AND operated. Even Kelsey’s 4-year-old daughter Stella is “working” alongside us most days! 

We are so thankful The Lord has blessed us with a healthy family and a great business. We have a lot to be thankful for and truly appreciate every one of our awesome customers and our great staff - who we would be completely lost without!
